Stairwell and Hall
So the house never really came with a proper staircase or at least the ballustrade wasn't there. This not only looks weird but is a safety hazard. The hallway was tired and the ceiling from the ground entrance all the way up the staircase was Artex patterned with our old friend 'Asbestos'.

We used staircase components from B and Q and I fashioned up a secure way of attaching the banister posts using large diameter dowel.

We originally wanted to keep the pine stair treads however after lifting the old carpet we realised that the condition was not good enough to simply sand and wax so we opted for carpet instead.

For the floor in the entrance we used Travertine tumbled stone flooring. Although time consuming to lay, we think it looks amazing once finished.
